Do you have any moving tips?
Label the top of each box with the room and contents so that the movers can quickly see it as they carry the boxes.
So that you can quickly locate everything you need when you are unpacking, pack a bag for you and/or your family as if you are going on a weeklong vacation.
Label every remote control, then place it in a baggie.
When disassembling something, place all of the components in a baggie and tape it to the object.
The day before your move, pick up ice or ice packs so you can load your chilled stuff in a cooler.
Hire a cleaning (carpet cleaning) service for your new (or both) properties, or keep one box full of cleaning materials, paper towels, and waste bags so you can clean when everything is moved out and as soon as you get there.
If there are other pick-up slots available, call your waste firm.
How far in advance should I book my move?
A move is often scheduled two weeks in advance, but State to State Movers may work with any time period, including same-day reservations.
When will you start processing my move's payment?
There is no deposit needed for local movers, and payment is made on the day of the transfer.
50% of your balance is payable at the time of booking for long distance moves, and the remaining amount is due on the day of the relocation.
Why should I use a moving company?
Self-moving can be less expensive but takes significantly longer. You need to pack your possessions, locate moving vans, load, and then unload everything. Additionally, you’ll probably need to solicit assistance from friends or family, which might increase stress.
You will save time and energy by choosing to hire our moving services instead of doing it yourself. Professional movers can cost more, but they also offer a variety of services that make the extra fee worthwhile, especially if you’re moving large or heavy pieces of furniture or need to travel down stairs. It is likely less expensive to hire expert movers than to replace damaged furniture or to fix dents or scrapes on your walls.
You can hire a moving company to pack, move, and unpack everything for you if convenience is your top priority. Simply have your pre-packed boxes transported by the movers if you want to keep prices down. Once the specifics of your relocation are determined (such as distance, the quantity and weight of your belongings, and the cost of transportation), you can assess convenience vs. cost to arrive at the best choice.
Are movers required to move my belongings for the price they estimate?
Whether an estimate is non-binding or binding relies on that estimate’s nature. A mover is not compelled to offer a shipper an estimate. However, if a shipper calls it a “estimate” and requests an estimate over the phone or online, the mover must provide it in writing. A non-binding or binding estimate may be given by the mover, and it must be made clear on the estimate itself which type it is.
What information regarding the pickup and delivery dates should I know?
On your order for service and bill of lading, be sure the mover provides you with a date or range of dates. Allowing the information about these dates or spread dates to be left blank could cause your shipment to be delayed. Unless you have made prior agreements for a different date or set of days, make sure your order for service dates are transferred to your bill of lading. Get it translated into particular calendar dates if you notice wording indicating a time frame, such as “a few weeks following pickup” or “as soon as feasible.” Make sure your bill of lading includes these dates.
When Pickup
ENSURE THAT YOU GET A BILL OF LADING (AND NOT JUST AN INVENTORY SHEET) WITH THE NAME OF THE MOVER TRANSPORTING YOUR ITEMS, THE MOVER’S ADDRESS, THE MOVER’S TELEPHONE NUMBER, AND THE MOVER’S “MC” NUMBER.
You are responsible for accepting pickup from the FIRST date on your pick-up spread of dates to the LAST date.
When Delivered
From the FIRST date to the LAST date of the delivery spread dates, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for accepting delivery of your items.
Don’t adhere to any deadline the driver gives you. Any delivery date the driver offers you is not a firm commitment, so don’t rely on it. Only the date or range of dates on the bill of lading and order for service are legally binding.
